Happy end of August!
I’ll email out the week 1 reading material by Sunday, September 11. Our first zoom meeting will be on Sunday, September 18 at 4pm. The zoom account is all set up and the link for connecting will go out with the first tranche of reading material.
Slight changes to the syllabus:
1. In week 3 we will discuss the entirety of Hurton’s autobiography, Dust Tracks on the Road.
2. In week 5 we will discuss Hurston’s famous novel, Their Eyes Were Watching God.
These whole books will not be provided by pdfs because of copyright restrictions. Please put in your orders soonest at the public library or at your favorite book retailer.
My advance reading of this material has been a real treat. I’ve also come across Deborah Plant’s ZNH: A Biography of the Spirit, a nice compendium of the Hurston body of work. We will incorporate it into future versions of the study group without fail.
